Bio and Media Kit

For the past five years, Kendall has been calling Peterborough home.  She had taken a break from her performing career with Joe Bishop when she moved back to Ontario from the Yukon in 2001.  She has been focusing on raising her two children, and creating a home  for them.  “I bought a real fixer- upper, and have been working non-stop on the house for the past five years.  I am ready to put my hammer away and be done with it.”  Now that the kids have gotten older, she is finding more time to devote to her writing. “It feels good to be writing again.  I have been writing a lot over the past few weeks – it is like something has burst inside me and I can’t contain my thoughts any longer.  It is neat – it is hard for me to sing – because the rhythym that is in my head when I think of the lyrics is hard to recreate right away and I have to sing it over and over again until the rhythym works with the sentence…it feels good to challenge myself – it is really fun music for me to sing”.  It took Kendall awhile to find this energy for writing.  “At first, it scared me, because it was so different then how I have approached songwriting in the past, but I also had to trust myself, because it felt good to be doing something else, and to see where it would take me”.  Where it takes her is into her heart, and her thoughts.  It is a lyrical journey and Kendall’s well seasoned voice is reminiscent of Joni Mitchel, Janis Joplin and a hint of Tom Waits to perfect  the pace.  “I am not as concerned about making my voice sound pretty.  I am playing around with it a lot more.”
